Bosch and ASPIRx to set up partnership in Ghana

On the occasion of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s tour of Africa, Robert Bosch Packaging Technology and ASPIRx Ltd, Ghana, have agreed to form a partnership to produce pharmaceuticals. A corresponding letter of intent was signed by both parties on August 30, 2018, in Accra, Ghana. As a representative of Bosch Packaging Technology, Mazen Touban, Vice President for the markets in Africa and Middle East, was designated for the signature. In attendance were the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as well as several politicians and business representatives of both nations.

For Bosch Packaging Technology, the focus of the partnership will be on designing and supplying a multi-functional system that will manufacture and package both liquid and solid pharmaceuticals. The precise scope of services will be worked out shortly.

Importance of the African pharmaceuticals market
The African pharmaceuticals industry is gaining in increasing importance. Drivers of this development include increasing urbanization, capacity expansion in the healthcare sector, as well as the desire to strengthen the local economy and promote domestic pharmaceutical production. Bosch Packaging Technology has been active in Africa for more than 20 years. In 2017, it succeeded in more than doubling its order intake compared to the previous year.
