Bosch Packaging Technology sees “red”: The ALF 5000 filling and closing machine has won the German Packaging Award 2018 . Joachim Brenner, general manager of the site in Crailsheim and product manager Tobias Goettler accepted the desired prize in the form of a red packaging cube in front of hundreds of guests at the awards ceremony on September 25. “We are very proud of this award, which once again demonstrates the expertise of our engineers in Crailsheim,” says Brenner at the event at the Nuremberg Convention center. “The ALF 5000 offers our customers maximum flexibility with three different filling options – for ampoules only, vials only or as a combination for ampoules and vials.” The prize is awarded annually by the German Packaging Institute (dvi) for exceptional innovations. The jury assessed a total of 226 submissions, with Bosch beating eleven other entries in the category packaging machines.
Highest process safety and precision
During the development of the machine, which was launched at interpack 2017, process safety was the main priority: “A patented carrying walking beam ensures that the glass containers are handled particularly gently and safely,” explains Tobias Goettler, product manager at Bosch Packaging Technology. “The system switches seamlessly from continuous to intermittent operation and slightly lifts the glass containers to prevent them from rubbing against the machine guides.”
Other advantages of the system: its output of up to 600 containers per minute, easy accessibility and compact design. To ensure accurate filling volumes, Bosch offers optional 100% in-process control. The system accurately weighs the vials before and after filling without interrupting the continuous process flow. The machine platform is also compatible with all common filling systems, such as piston pumps or peristaltic pumps – and can be equipped with four, six, eight, ten or twelve filling points.
