On the path to the connected factory

Bosch

Professors from well-known Swiss and German universities visited Bosch Packaging Systems in Beringen, Switzerland, to discuss connectivity solutions for the packaging industry. In small groups, academics and engineers had the chance to exchange their views on Industry 4.0 topics.

Let’s continue the dialogue

“Dialogue is incredibly valuable and inspiring for all involved parties. The packaging industry thrives on highly qualified personnel whose fresh thinking and unconventional ideas build upon our innovations and technological leadership. In return, we offer universities the opportunity to have a feel of the pulse of the market. By working with Bosch Packaging, they can learn about customers’ needs first hand, and can consequently find out which connectivity applications and technologies are relevant to them,” Dr Norbert Burger, head of the Industry 4.0 team at Bosch Packaging Systems in Beringen, explains.

Connectivity will become a key factor in the processing and packaging industry

The connected factory is starting to become a reality in the processing and packaging industry. Thanks to the connectivity of equipment and IT, a higher level of transparency can be achieved throughout the entire value chain. The Bosch solutions maximize digitization to help their customers and staff members optimize processes and workflow in a new way.

Enhancing the business model

“Digital products will become essential in the packaging industry. Our packaging systems, combined with customer-oriented industry 4.0 solutions, will play an increasingly important role in the future. The industry 4.0 solutions we have developed in Beringen put us at theforefront of this key business area,” Dr Christian Walti, general manager, Bosch Packaging Systems AG, adds.
