The Human Machine Interface (HMI) is only a very small part of a machine but an important one since all information of the machine or an entire line is bundled on the operation panel. Now, Bosch presents its latest development in the field of industry 4.0: the HMI 4.0, which serves as ideal interface for data collection, data sharing and visualization. “Our aim is to make sure that all our machines not only feature the latest hardware and control technology, but also provide a consistent look and feel,” says Stefan König, member of the divisional board of management at Bosch Packaging Technology.
Uniform and intuitive machine operation
As of Interpack 2017, Bosch will step-by-step start to equip all new machines of its processing and packaging units with the HMI 4.0. A major new feature of the HMI are its guided workflows, which automatically lead operators through each step of production. Thanks to a clearly arranged, tile-structured menu, operators will benefit from a quick overview of all functions and processes of their machines.
Bosch has especially tailored its HMI to operators’ requirements, which have been observed as part of an international, user-focused development process. “Operators will have an easier time in future since they will find a consistent navigation concept with the same basic functions at each machine of a line,” König says. “The HMI’s standardized interfaces are an important requirement for connected factories, and form the gateway to additional products of the Bosch industry 4.0 portfolio.”
Experience the new HMI live
The HMI 4.0 is exhibited on selected machines at FachPack in Nuremberg, Germany (September 27 to 29, 2016 – hall 3A, booth 337), and at Pack Expo in Chicago, USA (November 6 to 9, 2016 – south hall, booth 3514).
