Getting to know a potential business partner and already sharing first ideas in less than eight minutes – is that even possible? The participants of the business speed-dating, organized by BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg at Bosch Packaging Technology’s site in Crailsheim, Germany, are convinced it is. “We were surprised of how lively the conversations and how tangible the contents turned out to be,” said Christian Treitel, director business development product division Pharma at Bosch Packaging Technology. “If used well, even this short time span can trigger exciting ideas.”
Unexpected connecting points
Speed-dating – a popular way for singles to meet quickly and innocuously – has established itself in the business world as well. At its Meet & Match events, BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg relies on this efficient way to initiate new business contacts in the fields of bio-economy and biotechnology, as well as pharmaceutical industry and medical technology. On 15 March 2016, Bosch opened its doors for a speed-dating event all about pharmaceutical process technology entitled “Scale-up – from laboratory scale to industrial production”. Amongst the ten participating companies who met in Crailsheim were internationally operating pharmaceutical manufacturers like Rentschler Biotechnologie GmbH, as well as regional startups.
After an introductory round, the companies had eight minutes to talk to each other participant. The guests were just as enthusiastic about the event format and the quality of conversations as host Christian Treitel. Several previously unexpected connecting points were found. Moreover, the framework program provided further topics for discussion. Prof. Dr Ralf Takors, from the Institute of Biochemical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, provided in-depth insights into current market figures and trends around biopharmaceutical substances. A presentation of selected machines and a guided tour through the production facility completed the event.
