A resounding success – TINE SA and Bosch subsidiary Ampack

Inline Cup Filler

Oslo-based company TINE SA has 5,675 employees and is Norway’s largest producer, distributor, and exporter of dairy products. It offers a range of over 740 products including yoghurt, sour cream, and a variety of cheeses – sold worldwide under the TINE brand.

“After taking over production from another dairy that had closed, we had to guarantee that we could cope with the increased output. We also wanted to raise hygiene standards across the entire production process and integrate a new cup filling machine into the existing packaging line,” says Havard Lamberg, process engineer at TINE SA. This put TINE SA in the market for a reliable partner to help bring these ambitious plans to fruition.

Back in 2007, TINE SA bought the first of four machines from the packaging specialists at Ampack, a company acquired by Bosch Packaging Technology in 2012. At its site in Königsbrunn in southern Germany, Ampack develops, manufactures, and sells filling and packaging machines for preformed cups and bottles used for highly sensitive products. These include hospital food, milk products, and baby food as well as dosable foods such as cereals.

TINE SA is currently using an Ampack eight-track inline cup filling machine capable of filling preformed cups with various products – a range of yoghurt products, viscous desserts, sour cream, and cottage cheese – at a rate of 18,000 cups an hour. What’s more, a large number of different types of cup and packaging materials can be processed on one machine at the same time.

This project was a resounding success for TINE SA: Ampack’s compelling solution is a combination of innovative technologies and outstanding service.
