Young students get to taste success with Bosch

Big Bang Fair

This March, 65,000 young Britons will have the chance to get to grips with one of Bosch’s advanced robots at the Big Bang Fair (14 to 17 March 2013, London ExCel) – the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people. Bosch has supplied a robot for use on the Taste Success – A Future in Food stand run by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) and Nestlé UK. The aim of this stand is to excite bright young people about the opportunities in the food and drink industries, and encourage them to consider a career in these fields.

Young people visiting the stand will be able to get up close and personal with one of our 4-Axes Delta-robots, which is similar to those currently used by Nestlé. The demonstration will give visitors an insight into how robotics and automation are essential to the food and drink manufacturing industry and highlight the speed and efficiency of the technology. This attraction will showcase the importance of mathematics, engineering and technology skills in machinery and robotic solutions used in the food and beverage industry.

The food and drink sector is currently the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, accounting for 16 percent of the UK’s total manufacturing sector and employing 400 000 people. The industry is facing a serious challenge however – securing talented young people to run the food businesses of tomorrow. This issue is present to many manufacturing companies, and Bosch is proud to participate with its partners in an event that encourages young people to get involved in engineering and technology.
