Bosch Packaging Technology expands its presence on the African continent. In the beginning of October, Friedbert Klefenz, president of Bosch Packaging Technology and Jan Michaelis, vice president product group confectionery in Viersen, travelled to Nairobi to inaugurate a new “Rolling and Scoring“ line together with the customer and representatives from politics, economy and society. It is the first of its kind in Kenya and even in Eastern Africa. For primary packaging, Bosch additionally delivered eight Miniwrap flow wrapping machines.
At our customer´s facility, the line developed in Viersen produces and packages chewing gum with an output of up to 1.8 tons per hour. Due to its high complexity only four of these lines are installed globally each year. The cooperation with our Kenyan customer already began back in the early 1990s. This is why we are especially proud to make a contribution to the successful history of our long-term business partner. The new comprehensive solution will support the manufacturer of stationery, food stuffs, confectionery and footwear to establish a leading position in the African confectionery market.
For Bosch, the launch is another important step into the growing market Africa. Not only in North and South Africa, but also in the East of the continent the project volume as wells as order intake increase, for example in Kenya and Zambia. In the Republic of South Africa we already have a production site; in Cairo we established a sales location just recently.
