With the acquisition of the machinery business companies (hereafter Eisai Machinery) of Eisai Co., Ltd. in April 2012, Bosch has enlarged its competencies in pharmaceutical inspection technology. At Achema 2012 in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, visitors could get an idea of the new Bosch inspection portfolio. According to the One Stop Shopping concept, customers are provided with tailor-made inspection solutions from a single source.
Bosch and Eisai Machinery – one unit for inspection solutions
The main focus of Eisai Machinery’s portfolio is on fully automated inspection machines. Among the exhibited products are high-end units for particle and cosmetic inspection: the EIS A206S for pre-filled syringes as well as the AIM C203A for ampoules, vials and cartridges. The integrated SD (static division) technology, developed by Eisai Machinery, is based on the detection of moving particles in pharmaceutical liquids. The SD technology is also suited for the inspection of filling levels. In addition, Eisai Machinery offers manual and semi-automated inspection machines, and thus covers all requirements from laboratory applications to high-speed production lines. In the past, Eisai Machinery and Bosch Packaging Technology have realized many joint projects. Therefore, their systems perfectly match.
Another highly noted exhibit was the new KKX 3900. Based on x-ray technology, the inspection unit for capsules serves as a system for 100 percent weight and quality control. The small inspection unit is equipped with soft x-ray technology and an associated sensor for image creation. Besides filling weight information and length measuring, the system is also able to detect foreign particles or deformation of capsule top and bottom in only one single process step.
